The KSO and Nief-Norf Join Forces To Present An Intoxicating Program All About Rhythm

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and members from Nief-Norf will present a concert on Thursday, November 21st and Friday, November 22nd at 7:30pm. "The Art of Rhythm" is the theme and the audience will be treated to the rare opportunity to hear a percussion concerto which will be performed by percussionists Andy Bliss and Mike Truesdale, both members of the Knoxville-based contemporary music ensemble, Nief-Norf. Israeli-born composer, Avner Dorman's Spices, Perfumes, Toxins! is a "feast for the senses", says music director, Aram Demirjian. Also on the program is Beethoven's Symphony No.7 which Demirjian says is entirely based on a single rhythmic motive.

The concert will be presented, as usual, in the magnificent Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville. Tickets and information online at http://knoxvillesymphony.com

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
