The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concludes its 80th season

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concludes its 80th season Thursday and Friday nights with a epic concert featuring music of Wagner, Beethoven, and Christopher Theofanidis.

Resident conductor, James Fellenbaum, will lead the orchestra in performances of Beethoven's Leonore Overture No.3, Christopher Theofanidis' "Dreamtime Ancestors" (TN premiere), and "The Ring: An Orchestral Adventure", a suite arranged by Henk de Vlieger, consisting of themes and music from Wagner's "Ring Cycle."

Morning Concert host, Melony Dodson, and Maestro Fellenbaum discuss this exciting music in great detail, providing listeners and audience members with an in-depth, "inside" look at the music on this exciting program!

The concert begins at 7:30pm and as always, will be given at the Tennessee Theatre. More information is available online at knoxvillesymphony.com or by phone at 291-3310

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
